Day Hospice Services

The aim of the Day Hospice is to help patients to maintain the best possible quality of life throughout their illness journey.

A range of specialist staff work within the Day Hospice and these include consultants, doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, a physiotherapist, chaplain and a complementary therapist.

Following an initial assessment, members of the team will work in partnership with the patient to control physical symptoms and help with anxiety and other difficult feelings. A wide range of activities are offered which include creative work, life history recording, discussion groups, poetry, writing, music and the use of digital media.

In Inverness we offer full Day Hospice services on three days a week between 10am to 3pm. On the other days we have group sessions which include a carers support group and outpatient interventions on an individual basis.

Our Outreach Day Hospice services run fortnightly in Skye, Fort William, Thurso and Dornoch in the following venues:  The Portree ARMS centre, Fort William Library, North Highland Cancer Information Centre Thurso, Dornoch Social Club.

We have a team of volunteer drivers who can organise transport to any of the venues above (including Inverness) if a patient is otherwise unable to get here.

For full information about these services, you can view our Outpatient information Booklet or our Outreach Outpatient Information Booklet
