It’s “One, Two, Three, Jump!” for Hospice Skydivers
A group of four brave Highland Hospice supporters gave each other moral support as they prepared to skydive 10,000 feet on Saturday 25th May.
The team, which consisted of staunch Hospice supporter John Urquhart, Highland Hospice fundraiser Carola Highet, Retail Manager Norma Mackay and Norma’s husband Robert, travelled down to Errol Airfield in Perthshire in order to undertake the challenge which was organised by Paragon Skydiving.
Met with glorious blue skies and sunshine, each member of the group fulfilled their challenge with mixed reactions!
Carola Highet explains, “It was absolutely terrifying from the moment I set foot in the plane. Once you are in there, there’s no going back. The man I was with kept telling me to look at all the sights and wave at the people below – but I was too scared to look for most of the time! I’m so glad that I did it though, it was a true experience.”
John Urquhart (63), said, “It was some adventure and I am so proud of myself for doing it, but, unlike the other challenges I have done, I’m happy to draw a line under skydiving! I can say I have done it, and that’s that!”
Norma’s reaction was different again, in that she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and its build up so much that she felt flat once it was all over. She said, “I felt quite low the next day – I just wanted the excitement back again!”
All of our brave team thoroughly recommend the experience to anyone who is looking for a true challenge. If you are interested in doing something similar to raise funds for Highland Hospice, please contact our fundraising team on 01463 246273.
