KICK START 2015 WITH LOVE TO LOSE
Kick start 2015 with a weight loss challenge that could improve your health and win you some superb prizes, while supporting the Hospice at the same time!
A New Year weight loss challenge in aid of Highland Hospice kicks off on in January with the aim of attracting people from across the Highlands to look their best in time for Valentines Day. As well as helping to shift the extra pounds gained over the festive period, the challenge hopes to inspire participants to improve their overall health and fitness throughout the rest of 2014.
The event also has the added incentive of some superb prizes for the participants who lose the highest percentage of their body weight during the 5 week period. The challenge begins with a weigh in which participants can do at any registered weigh in station(see below for a list of stations) from Monday 5th January, and ends with a weigh out at the same registered station no later than midday of Saturday 14th February. It costs £10 to register for Love to Lose, with the money raised going to the Highland Hospice, and participants can also choose to get sponsored and raise further funds for the Hospice.
The biggest male and female losers will each win £50 of shopping vouchers from their preferred supplier. These winners will be the man and lady who have lost the highest percentage of their body weight during the challenge , so everyone has a fair chance. Another lucky winner, the individual who loses the next highest amount of their body weight, will win £30 of vouchers for Bikes of Inverness. There will also be a draw for every participant who raises over £100 of sponsorship for Highland Hospice, and the winner of this draw will win £100 of Marks and Spencers vouchers.
Kenny Riddle from Bikes of Inverness, said:
“We are delighted to once again be helping Highland Hospice through Love to Lose. The initiative is something that Bikes of Inverness has now been running for 22 years, and it is great to see it getting more and more popular. This is the perfect opportunity to shift some festive pounds and support a great cause in the process.”
Amanda Burt, Fundraising manager at Highland Hospice, said:
“We are delighted to be involved with Love to Lose, it is a brilliant way for people to begin their New Year on a high – not only looking and feeling great but supporting Highland Hospice at the same time. Although it only costs you £10 to register, you can choose to get friends and families to sponsor you to help raise even more money for the Hospice.”
Last year's event attracted 112 participants, with 171 entering the challenge in 2013, raising over £2,500 for Highland Hospice in both years. The 2014 winners of Love to Lose were Amy Wade and Donnie Mackay with Wendy Fraser taking 3rd place.
