Senior Sister, In Patient Unit
Chrissie has worked for Highland Hospice since 1990 in various nursing roles. Her interest in palliative care led me to complete the Specialist Practitioner Qualification and Bachelor of Nursing Degree in Palliative Care at Dundee University.
Chrissie says, “My hobbies are beach combing in Scotland collecting agates and hill walking. I have entered the Great Wilderness Challenge in past years so that I can contribute to raising money for the Hospice. This also gives me the privilege to meet some of the many people who voluntarily work so hard to raise money for us. Meeting the fund raisers also gives me the opportunity to tell people first hand how the money is spent in the In Patient Unit for the benefit of the patients.
If I was asked to quantify “palliative nursing care” I would not be able to do so but a patient once told me that the care he had received was like being looked after by his own family with loving care, trust and affection.”
