Area Fundraiser, Community & Events
Marie-Anne joined Highland Hospice in August 2012 and is responsible for organising fundraising events across the Highland region and raising awareness of the work of the Hospice.
Marie-Anne says, “I work for Highland Hospice because I believe the services and level of care offered to the patients and their families are outstanding. I wish my father could have had access to these services when he was going through his illness. Unfortunately, there was no structure such as the Hospice where he lived. He could have benefited so much from the extra care and attention that the nurses, housekeepers, cooks and all the other staff members of the Hospice give to the patients. There is also support available here for families to help them cope with the loss of their loved-ones. The Hospice is a place where people can feel at home and are treated like humans and not patient numbers. The Fundraising Office is a hub of activity and the team is constantly trying to find new and different ways of raising funds. On a weekly basis, I travel across the whole Highlands to meet up with local communities and talk to them about what we do in the Hospice in the hope that I can inspire people to get involved and help us keep the services running and providing the same excellent levels of care.”
