‘Catwalk for a Cause’, return's to the Drumossie Hotel on Saturday 8th February 2025. The successful fundraising event raised £73,000 for Highland Hospice and the End of Life care Together charity in February of 2024.
Brought to the charity by its organiser Alison McRitchie, the glitzy event showcases models sharing their own personal experiences of life-limiting illness.
The event is incredibly close to heart for Alison, owner of the successful Head Gardener hair salon in Inverness, as not only has she had her own battle with breast cancer - she also lost her dear friend Sandra Patience to the disease earlier this year.
Alison explains, “Anyone who was at Catwalk this year will certainly remember Sandra, who was incredible on the catwalk with her dear friend Maureen Davidson.”
“Sandra and Maureen met when they shared their chemotherapy journey together, becoming firm friends and (reluctantly!) agreeing to strut their stuff and tell their stories to the packed Catwalk audience, only a few months ago, on February 10th of this year.”
“I was lucky to have shared 35 years of friendship with my dear pal Sandra. In March she was given the all clear. Sadly, she died on May 20th.”
“Catwalk for a Cause is not just an evening of strength, hope, courage and inspiration – but an evening where we come together and create the most beautiful memories for all our friends and families to remain in our hearts and minds for the rest of our days.”
“Sandra, along with all the other amazing brave warriors that were up there on the night are the epitome of these qualities by the bucket load - we just wish we could bottle the atmosphere on the night.”
This year’s event will tell the stories of a range of inspirational models – each sharing their own personal experience of life-limiting illness. The event will be hosted by Nicola McAlley and Pennie Stuart and, as well as paying tribute to Sandra, the incredible Natalie Woodward will be back again as guest speaker.
All models at the event will wear items from Highland Hospice’s pre-loved retail collection, and there will be high quality items for sale on the night, highlighting the charity’s sustainability drive.
Highland Hospice fundraiser Emma Nicol said, “Alison is such an incredible woman, and we can’t thank her enough for bringing this event to Highland Hospice. This year will be particularly emotional for Alison having sadly recently lost her dear friend Sandra. Huge thanks also to our main event sponsors The Head Gardener and Mary MacFarlane Financial Planning for their overwhelming generosity.”
Emma added, “If you or someone you know would like to model at this year’s event, please get in touch. It is an uplifting and memorable experience, and we love seeing our model’s bond with each other through sharing their stories and experiences.”
