As part of our front-line team, Netley Receptionists provide a warm, friendly and professional welcome to Hospice visitors and callers. We are looking for individuals to support the Hospice in its delivery of reception and administrative services whilst maintaining the cheerful welcome atmosphere of the Hospice.

Main responsibilities and suggested activities

  • Meet and greet everyone arriving at Netley in a professional, warm and friendly manner in accordance with Hospice procedures
  • Carry out screening questions of all outpatients
  • Answer telephone calls in a professional manner, transferring calls accurately to the appropriate member of staff or department. Take details of call if this can’t be done
  • Undertake computer work and administrative tasks on behalf of other departments
  • Maintain a neat and tidy reception area
  • Provide a smooth handover between shifts
  • Participate in team meetings and attend training in support of role as required
  • Refer any concerns to Voluntary Services Manager
  • If during your volunteering, a close friend or family member of yours becomes a patient, it is essential you let us know and accept that we may ask you to take time out, or transfer you to another role to ensure your own wellbeing and to ensure there is no conflict of interest.

Skills / attributes and/or qualification(s) required

  • Excellent customer service skills (on telephone and face to face) are essential
  • Excellent communication skills with a warm, friendly, outgoing personality are essential
  • Excellent computer skills Microsoft programs i.e. word, excel, outlook are essential
  • Experience of administrative tasks
  • Excellent team working skills and use of initiative are essential.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Estimated hours

Temporary shift 4 hours per shift on a Monday morning
