Caring after death

Once the person you are caring for has died, there are so many things that you might want to do.

We all react differently.

The moment someone dies is unique to them and you, and taking time to sit/lay with them can be really important for you both.

Take your time!

This guidance from Pushing up the Daisies provides information around caring for someone at home after they have died. This approach can be in conjunction with your funeral director (if you have one).

If you need to find a funeral director you can use this link.

There are very useful links on the Scottish Partnership in Palliative Care website for any further guidance required.

Bereavement support

You can access Bereavement Support from Highland Hospice and Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland. Both websites have information to help you understand bereavement and how you are feeling as well as contact information if you want to access one-to-one or group support.
