Community Partnership Conference

The Community Partnership Conference is a joint venture between Highland Hospice, Highland Third Sector Interface and Connecting Carers, supporting the delivery of health and social care across the Highland region.

The purpose of the Conference is to promote partnership working across all sectors and to ask the third sector to

• Identify the barriers to working in partnership,
• Propose solutions to overcome such challenges
• Consider the priorities in setting a pathway to achieving such solutions.

The event is all about the delegates being listened to not lectured at. However, to aid your conversation we have been able to secure some great speakers.

The conference will be graphically recorded in real time by Jaqueline Forbes of Drawn to Learn. A copy of her finished artwork will available to all participating organisations.

Travel Expenses

To aid attendance at the conference for small health and social care community providers we are able to pay travel expenses in certain circumstances. Due to budget restrictions this is limited to

• Local community hubs or their representatives from towns and villages across the Highlands
• Who provide or host services for their community

We are not able to pay for the travelling expenses to groups whose services are provided pan Highland or if you are from a public sector or statutory body.

A rate of 45p per mile is offered for a return journey.

Following our green agenda, please note that we promote car sharing and, if a group of organisations from a particular region wish to hire a minibus to bring delegates to the conference then consideration will be given to contributing to this cost at our sole discretion.

Accommodation Expenses

In a desire to encourage attendance at the conference from rural and remote communities we are able, in limited circumstances, to pay for accommodation for one night on Tuesday 7^th November 2023. Because of budget restrictions, this offer is limited to a maximum of 20 people to be allocated at our sole discretion.

The offer to pay for accommodation is made to those community organisations or their representatives who are two hours or more drive from Inverness.

Priority will be given to those groups who are located in

• Caithness
• North and West Sutherland
• Skye and Lochaber
• Fort William
• Oban

To make a request for payment of accommodation please contact Harry Tedstone on communityengagement@highlandhospice.org.uk, marking your email “Request for payment of accommodation”. The maximum contribution to accommodation is £70 per person per night.

Venue Details

WASPS Inverness Creative Academy is located 2 minutes walk behind Eastgate Shopping Centre Inverness.

Parking

There is very limited parking at the venue. There are four disabled parking bays which are taken on a first-come-first-served basis. The most convenient space to park for the duration of the conference is in the Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Access to the Event

Access to the event, including disabled access is through the side door to the right hand side of the entrance to the car park off Midmills Road. Please follow the signage.

Public Transport

WASPS is an 8 minute walk from Inverness railway station and an 11 minute walk from Inverness bus station. Click on railways and bus for directions. Please note that WASPS is at the top of a small hill. If you would prefer to get a taxi then the rank is located outside the railway station.

Disabled Facilities and Services

WASPS Inverness has full disabled access and facilities. If you require additional services such as a hearing loop or facilities for guide dogs etc, please let us know when you book so that we can accommodate your request.
