Respiratory ECHO
Why Respiratory ECHO?
This ECHO network aims to bring together a community of practice for participants, from different clinical backgrounds, who are working towards providing the best respiratory care.
Over the past 2 years the TEC transforming local systems pathfinder project has been reviewing the respiratory pathway to make it more patient centred by co-designing it with patients and all other users or providers of the pathway from the outset.
Primary care health care professionals reported they would like to increase their confidence in diagnosing, managing, and making referrals for patients with respiratory conditions and reported an overall need for better connectivity and communication between services.
They told us that they valued previously delivered online sessions via the ECHO network and found these sessions beneficial.
‘They were delivered with good clear practical advice which was readily transferable to clinical situations…I definitely felt empowered to give better help to my patients after each session. And the Chair was excellent!’ - Highland GP
‘The sessions included valuable learning from key health care professional speakers and then a case study related to the respiratory topic. I learned a lot from the case studies and I found the group supportive in these reflective discussions. I would definitely recommend.’ – Highland Advanced Practitioner
Who is it for?
The Respiratory ECHO sessions are based on work done by the recent NHS Highland Respiratory Pathfinder learning needs survey. With this in mind they’re aimed to appeal, in particular, to GPs, GP trainees, Practice nurses and AHPs.
This ECHO Network has now ended, a new network is planned for 2023, so stay tuned!
Curriculum
Following the planning and information meeting held on the 16th March we had a confirmed curriculum which took account of the general consensus at the meeting and additional suggestions for content.
