An 25th anniversary shopping bag appeal had a brilliant silver lining for Highland Hospice.
Shoppers, who bought 10,000 hessian bags at Tesco stores in Inverness, Tain and Dingwall helped raise a wonderful £9,000 for the Hospice.
Tesco bosses pledged to donate 90p from every bag sale and after an amazing community response the final donation has now been made to Andrew Leaver, Director of Fundraising, Retail and Communications at Highland Hospice. Store Managers, Personnel Managers and Community Champions from the six stores made a special visit to Ness House to present the cheque earlier this week.
Mr Leaver said: “We would like to thank everyone at Tesco for raising such an incredible amount of money for Highland Hospice, and obviously thank all the customers who bought the bags in the Inverness, Tain and Dingwall stores. £9,000 will make such a massive difference to a large number of our patients and their families, and help us to provide Hospice services Highland-wide.”
Community Champion at Tesco Extra Inshes Shona Patience, who was there to present the cheque, said: “The hessian bags have a really special meaning as they celebrate 25 years of brilliant work carried out by the team at the hospice. We have been absolutely delighted to be able to support the Highland Hospice in such a fantastic way.”
