The star of TV’s Strictly Come Dancing, Anton Du Beke, is making his return to popular dance competition ‘Strictly Inverness’ in 2020.
Earlier this year he visited the Highlands for the first time in his capacity as special guest judge for the 10th anniversary of the contest, which raises funds for both Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre.
In a video message, recorded from the set of Strictly Come Dancing where he is currently rehearsing with EastEnders star Emma Barton, Anton urges people to get their applications in. Anyone who makes it to the final will dance in front of him on 16 May 2020.
He said, “I had such a great time last year. It was a brilliant event, everyone danced amazingly. I’m looking forward to seeing the finalists so get your applications in now! I look forward to seeing you and can’t wait to come back.”
Highland Hospice’s Communications Officer Wendy Morgan said, “Both charities, Highland Hospice and Inverness Ice Centre, are over the moon that Anton will be joining us for a second year.
He was an absolute delight this year, and had everyone entertained with his feedback on each dance. The audience loved him, and he gave us great feedback on the competition.
I honestly can't think of anyone better suited to join our judging panel, he's just perfect for our show!"
"If anyone is swithering over applying, get your applications in. This could be your chance to show Anton what you've got!"
Next year’s competition kicks off on Wednesday 13th May with a launch night featuring a host of spectacular talent from local dance schools from all over the Highlands. All dancers will perform their group dances at this event, which is a family-friendly show. Thursday 14th and Friday 15th May are both semi-finals, where eight couples will perform two dances along with their group dance. The top four couples from each evening will make it through to the Grand Finale on Saturday 16th May where the overall winners will be announced. Each night is hosted by Brian Elrick.
Applications for Strictly Inverness 2020 close on Monday 28 October. Apply here.
