Highland Hospice's Nairn shop is moving to new premises on Leopold Street and will open to the public on Saturday 1st October at 10am.
Shop Manager Morven Livingstone said “We are so looking forward to opening the door to the new shop on Saturday the first of October. Our regular customers and volunteers are very excited to have a bigger Highland Hospice Shop opening in Nairn.
With 3 lovely big windows to showcase the amazing donations, we receive; we hope it will be very difficult to pass us by.
We are incredibly lucky to have such supportive businesses on Leopold Street, everyone helps each other out whenever they can which creates a lovely community feel.
Without the help of our amazing volunteers, warehouse staff and customers who have helped pull the shop together this wouldn’t have been as much fun. Hard work but well worth it as we get nearer to open”
She added, “We would love to see as many people, new and regular customers, as possible at the special 10 am opening on Saturday. Our regular customer Mary Mackenzie will cut the ribbon at 10 am. She was chosen because she really is just ‘one of those people’, kind and caring and we all have a soft spot for her. Mary lives in Nairn with her son, is a massive Elvis fan and loves her garden and her buddhas.”
“We first met her when she spotted a pair of red converse in the shop window and she took a fancy to them. Sadly, they didn’t fit but we found her a pair of sparkly ones instead. She comes to the shop every week and we love helping her to find outfits, particularly one for a reunion she was attending where she was overwhelmed by how great her outfit looked. Mary’s just a sweetheart and we couldn’t think of anyone more fitting to officially open our store.”
“Shopping local and shopping pre-loved are such great ways to support the Highland Hospice. Donations are always welcome too! A huge part of our fundraising effort comes from our stores, aiding our mission to ensure quality palliative care is available to all across the Highlands.”
