Palliative Care Response Service

Our Palliative Care Response Service provides flexible and timely access to social care at home and other support services for people nearing the end of life across Inverness.

We simplify access to care-at-home provisions such as social care, community support, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy. By facilitating access to these vital services, we can support you and your family to achieve the best quality end-of-life care, at home.

Our aim is to coordinate access to those urgent care services you need to remain at home, and to prevent or reduce unwanted hospital admissions. Within 12-24 hours we will have assessed the level of care you require and responded with a plan of action, tailored to best meet your needs. For urgent care needs, we aim to do this within 2 hours.

At times, admission to hospital might be unavoidable. When it is, our Palliative Care Response team can also coordinate the support you need in order to fast-track your discharge and get you home sooner, wherever possible.

Your Palliative Care Response Service is led by a highly experienced team and delivered in partnership by Highland Hospice and NHS Highland. We also work with other health and social care services who may provide additional care and support as you need it.

Our 24/7 Palliative Care Helpline can offer advice and support to patients nearing the end of life, their families, carers and professionals.
