Highland Hospice Announces New Route for Ladies-Only Walk, ‘Babes in the Wood’
Highland Hospice has announced that its popular ladies-only sponsored walk, Babes in the Wood (formerly known as the Moonlight Meander) will include a new 5 mile route this year as well as its existing 10 mile route.
The popular walk, which takes place on the Brahan Estate in Ross-shire on Saturday 9th June, includes first class entertainment as a warm up, followed by lots of fun, laughter and chocolate.
Once ladies have completed the walk, they will be greeted by a welcome team at the Finish Line and treated to a delicious barbecue and warm drinks.
Amanda Burt, Highland Hospice’s Events & Community Fundraiser, said, “Hundreds of ladies each year really enjoy leaving the men at home and getting together for lots of laughter, as they complete the course to raise money for the Hospice.”
“This year is Highland Hospice’s special 25th anniversary year, so we decided to change the name of this event to ‘Babes in the Wood’ which captures the light hearted nature of the walk. We also introduced the option of a shorter route following feedback from some of our previous entrants.”
Amanda added, “Our earlier start time of 7pm will allow the ladies to see the beautiful Brahan Estate in all its glory, before darkness sets in, and we are again really grateful to Judith Matheson and her family for letting us hold this event on their grounds.”
One dubious looking character attempted to register for the walk earlier this week, but was unmasked by the Hospice’s Fundraising Team as a male in disguise! Amanda explained, “Bobby the Bee, the Hospice’s new mascot is determined to go to any available lengths to participate in the walk but we have told him it is strictly ladies-only. However, if he behaves himself, we may let him along to cheer the ladies along on the night!”
Women of all ages are being urged to participate in the twilight walk which raises important funds for Highland Hospice’s patients and their families.
Registration starts at 530pm and free buses will be provided from Tulloch Inverness Caledonian Stadium to the Brahan Estate and back.
Anyone who wishes to register can do so by phoning 01463 227 913 or emailing events@highlandhospice.org.uk.
