Highland Hospice Invites Primary School Children to ‘Run for Smiles’

25 June 2013

A brand new 5K sponsored fun run, designed for primary school children, will take place in Inverness on Sunday 15th September in aid of Highland Hospice.
‘Run for Smiles’ will start at the Rugby Club on Canal Park at 12pm, finishing at the same location.  This is a day for all the family, with activities and hospitality available in the park.
The event, which is being organised in collaboration with John-Alasdair MacAulay (OJ Sports) and Debbie Morren (Direct Sales Marketing), aims to promote fitness and well-being to those in the primary school age bracket.
Highland Hospice’s Regional Fundraiser Marie-Anne Vrac said, “When John-Alasdair first approached us with this event, we were really inspired.  Promoting the important work of the Hospice to young people is something that we are always looking to enhance.  This is the perfect opportunity for primary school children to do something fun and healthy, whilst raising sponsor money for a fantastic cause.”
John-Alasdair MacAulay, who through his company OJ Sports, coaches young children in numerous primary schools in the Inverness area, said, “It is so important for children to keep fit and healthy and one of the best ways they can do this is by running.  Knowing that they are helping Highland Hospice’s patients and their families should provide the perfect motivation for this event.”
