We will be running our popular Make a Will Appeal throughout the month of May.
Teaming up with local solicitors, our hope is to raise vital funds whilst promoting the importance of will-writing. All of the Appeal’s participating solicitors have agreed to waive their usual fee, providing the same will-writing service and legal advice in return for a donation to Highland Hospice.
Highland Hospice’s Trusts and Committed Giving Fundraiser Emma Nicol said, “Making a will is one of the most important acts you can do for those you love and care for. However, only three in 10 of us get round to writing one as it is something that nobody wants to think about.”
She added, “The absence of any formal arrangements can cause a lot of distress to family members at a time when they are already very upset. Writing a valid will is the only way you can be sure your wishes are carried out and your loved ones are provided for after your death. By joining our campaign, you can help provide for your own family while making a huge difference to Highland Hospice patients and their families, at no extra cost.”
Participating solicitor Angus MacLeod from Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP in Inverness explains,
“Making a will is usually a fairly easy task, and having made one will give you peace of mind. Without a will, you cannot assume that even a surviving spouse won’t be forced into sharing the residuary estate with other beneficiaries.
“Writing a will is not something just for the wealthy, you would be surprised at how the value of your possessions can add up.
“And if you choose to make a will in May, you can support a great local cause in doing so!”
