Evanton is preparing for an event with a difference on 27 May 2017, when the Singlespeed European Championships hit town.

The event, which involves every participant cycling on a bike without gears, is donating all proceeds to the Highland Hospice.  On top of that, The Robertson Trust has agreed to triple every pound made from the event for the charity.  The fun kicks off on Thursday 25th May with lively ceilidh music and plenty of refreshements prior to the Championships on Saturday.

Places are still available for the challenge. No specific bike is required, but it does require to have no gears. Bikes can be converted in a straightforward way, either with a kit which is bought cheaply online or by using some old parts.

Highland Hospice Community Fundraiser Emma Nicol said, “We are delighted to be chosen as the benefiting charity of this hugely exciting event. Thanks so much to both the Singlespeed European Championships and the Robertson Trust for their generosity.  There is going to be such a buzz around Evanton that weekend, and we are really looking forward to seeing the cyclists in action.”

To book your space or find out more about the event, please visit the Singlespeed European Championships website or Facebook page.
