An award-winning lifestyle shop has attracted the attention of the internationally acclaimed author of the wildly popular series of books ‘Outlander.’

Helen and William Crawford - co-owners of The Old School -  are delighted that Diana Gabaldon will formally launch the new book department within their concept store in picturesque Beauly.

Helen Crawford said "We're excited that Diana has agreed to return to Beauly, this time to open our new book department and to give a talk followed by a book signing of her incredibly successful novels. Beauly is closely associated with Clan Fraser of Lovat and the Outlander character, Jamie, descends from Beauly.  Our shop is adjacent to the tranquil ruins of Beauly Priory where another character, Claire, meets Maisri the Seer so this area has great significance for Diana and her many fans."

Diana will officially open the new book department on Sunday May 14 when she gives a talk and Question and Answer session in Phipps Hall that is sure to prove a big hit with Outlander fans. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to Highland Hospice. The author will then do a book signing of her blockbuster novels in The Old School.

“We'll certainly make sure we have plenty of her books available on the day and hope to get as many people through as possible,” said Helen.

Tickets for the Talk with Q&A Session in Phipps Hall are £10 each and will be available to purchase at the Beauly shop from Saturday 29th April at 9am.

“We're expecting quite a crowd so please buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment as seating is limited. If you don't secure a ticket to the talk, don't worry because all are welcome to the Book Signing and Diana has kindly agreed to sign from 3pm until 4 pm on the day. We will try our best to get as many people through as possible in the time we have," added Helen.

The enterprising Crawford couple have seized the opportunity to raise much needed funding for Highland Hospice. Proceeds from all the ticket sales will be donated to the Hospice and there will be collecting tins available on the day.

More detailed information about how to get a ticket or have a book signed by Ms Gabaldon is available on the shop's website at www.oldschoolbeauly.com
