Highland Hospice supporter Alison McRitchie is organising a very special event to benefit the charity. ‘Catwalk for a Cause’ is to be held in the Drumossie Hotel on Saturday 11 February, kindly sponsored by MKM Building Supplies.
The event will feature a host of brave individuals whose lives have been affected by cancer, taking to the catwalk modelling clothes from Highland Hospice’s charity shops, and telling their own individual stories.
Special guests at the event are Steve Bland and Lauren Mahon (from the award winning podcast ‘You, Me and the Big C’) who will pay tribute to the late Dame Deborah James (Bowelbabe).
Alison, who is well-known locally as the Salon Director of The Head Gardener Salon in Inverness explains, “Like so many others, my heart was touched by Dame Deborah James and her mission to break down the taboos around bowel cancer. She was an icon who had all the qualities that this event is celebrating.”
“Dame Deborah was so brave and personable and her story inspired me to do something here in the Highlands. I am delighted that Steve and Lauren will join us for the event.
As Highland Hospice provided end of life care for both my dad and my sister, it is a cause very close to my heart. All proceeds from this event will be split between the Hospice and a cancer charity of Steve and Lauren’s choice.”
Highland Hospice fundraiser Emma Nicol commented, “We are so incredibly grateful to have Alison’s support through this incredible event. She has raised a phenomenal amount for Highland Hospice over the years, as well as raising awareness out in the community about the work we do.”
“Her last event ‘Highland Hearts of Gold’ held in 2020 raised an incredible £78,000, and we know she will make ‘Catwalk for a Cause’ a huge success.”
