A range of specially designed cupcakes made by popular bakery Harry Gow has raised £10,000 in a month for Highland Hospice.

The Coo Cake was on sale from mid-April to mid-May in Harry Gow shops throughout the area to honour the Hospice’s special Great Heilan’ Coo Trail.

And now the baker has created a special giant version of the cake to celebrate the donation, which will be raffled in aid of the Hospice. (Details of how to enter below).

People in their droves are combing the Highlands to locate all of the charity’s beautifully decorated Heilan’ Coo sculptures throughout the region this spring and summer, and Harry Gow’s involvement has enhanced the experience.

Highland Hospice Corporate Fundraiser Karen Duff said, “We are so grateful to Harry Gow for this incredibly generous donation. The coo cakes were a huge hit, and to raise £10,000 in such a short space of time through sales is fantastic. Harry Gow’s support has been a huge boost to our Great Heilan Coo Trail both in terms of fundraising and of raising its profile and we can’t thank them enough. Whoever wins the giant version of the cake is in for a treat!”

David Gow from the popular bakery explained, “We are delighted to be sponsoring one of Highland Hospice’s coos – Bos taurus – which can be found outside our North Kessock shop. It’s so important to us and our customers to support good causes in the communities that we live and work in, and we have long been supporters of the amazing palliative care that the Hospice provides.

“It’s wonderful to see so many people coming out to follow the trail and visit Bos taurus, and we are thrilled to be able to help the Hospice further through the sales of our Coo Cakes… and our giant Coo Cake raffle!”
