About the Clinical Update

After last year's conference, we have decided to rebrand to recognise the focus on learning that has developed over the past few years at these events. As such this year we are hosting the Highland Hospice PEoLC Clinical Update rather than a conference. There won't be a significant change in the format, we are continuing the focus on providing attendees with high quality clinical learning, covering a variety of topics relating to symptom treatment in palliative care.

Content and Theme

We've taken on feedback from previous years around what learning was most beneficial and narrowed this down to develop this year's theme, clinical symptom management. As in previous years we will be gathering experts in Palliative Care from around the UK, with a focus on local Highland practice, to bring you up to date knowledge and learning while providing a welcoming online experience.

Some of the topics that are being covered and speakers who are kindly joining us include:

  • Recognising Dying with Dr. Deans Buchanan
  • Quality of Life in Palliative and End of Life Care with Prof. Richard Hain
  • Delirium and Agitation Assessment with David MacLennan
  • Hiccups, Itch, and Sweating with Dr. Daniel Couchman
  • Nausea Assessment and Management with Dr. Katherine Collins
  • Breathlessness with Michelle Duffy
  • Bowel Care Physiology with Dr. Gordon Linklater

This list will continue to be updated as we confirm further speakers and topics.
