11.15 to 11.30 - How can Highland Hospice support you?
Michael Loynd will give updates on the Palliative Care Helpline, with information on how you can benefit from the support offered by this service.
Michael Loynd
Michael is involved in developing End of Life Care Together, the Palliative Care Helpline, and the Palliative Care Response Service at Highland Hospice. These services provide easily accessible support to carers and communities, with the overall aim to ensure that people can receive the care that they want.
11.30 to 12.15 - Pain Management
Dr. Jeremy Keen will be returning to provide his popular presentation on pain management and medication.

Dr Keen is a consultant physician in palliative medicine at Highland Hospice. He has years of experience in this position along with previously specialising in oncology, Dr Keen also regularly talks to students at the UHI Centre for Health Science.
13.00 to 13.30 - Managing conversations with the wider MDT
Jaime McNab
Jaime McNab District Nurse, will be back to deliver her insights on managing conversations with other professionals. Jaime is also a Queen's Nurse and is passionate about advocating for the needs of those in receipt of social care.
13.30 to 14.00 - Managing difficult conversations with families
Highland Hospice Chaplain, Norma Higgot and Social Worker, Maria Hynes will be giving insights into how to talk to families in those difficult moments.
Norma Higgott
Norma works as the chaplain at Highland Hospice, offering time and compassion for both those within the inpatient unit and their family members and those living out in our communities who are trying to make sense of what is happening to them and to offer emotional and spiritual support and a listening ear. She also works with individuals and groups pre and post bereavement.
Maria Hynes
Maria is a Social Worker at Highland Hospice. Maria works as part of the team in the Inpatient Unit to help provide practical and emotional support to Patients, Families and Carers. Maria also works within the Community to provide pre and post bereavement support for Families and Carers. And to support Patients who are community-based to come to terms with their situation and prepare for their end of life.
14.15 to 15.15 - Delirium, dementia and deprescribing
Dr Martin Wilson
Dr Martin Wilson is a geriatrics consultant for NHS Highland. He will be delivering his very popular presentation on the latest knowledge around medications and their impact as we age. Dr Wilson has contributed to several research papers in this field as well so this presentation will be a great opportunity for learning.
15.15 to 16.15 - Bringing technology along with us
During the last hour of our conference, we will look into two different health care platforms that can help make working easier.
Marc Beswick
Marc will be talking us through the Near Me platform; Near Me is a health care focussed video conferencing platform that aims to create an easy user experience. Marc is the National Lead for the Near Me Networks supporting the further spread and embedding of Near Me within all areas of Health and wider public services. In his spare time Marc enjoys the great outdoors either on a bike, surfboard or holding a fishing rod.
Nicky Cronin and Nicola McCardle
Nicky Cronin and Nicola McCardle will be telling us about Painchek, a Care Inspectorate driven pilot, using artificial intelligence to change the way we manage pain in patients with limited communication. Nicky is a Senior Improvement Advisor within the Care Inspectorate and has joined the Technology Enabled Care programme to help develop solutions that improve outcomes for individuals in home or community settings. Nicky will be joined by Nicola McCardle, who is also a Senior Improvement Adviser with the Care Inspectorate.
