Staff told us that Last Aid gave them space to reflect on death and dying in a safe, supported way - connecting personal experiences with professional practice. Conversations ranged from family dynamics and cultural rituals to pain management, prognosis, and the emotional realities of caring for people at the end of life.
Participants valued learning simple, memorable ways to explain what happens in the final weeks and days, and they reported feeling more confident in supporting families, managing expectations, and having honest, non-judgmental conversations.
The mixed groups also created much peer‑to‑peer learning, with staff sharing practical insights from different care settings.
These are the results from sessions looking at what matters now and at end of life. Our colourful post-it note heart design for this year's conference is a true representation of this table! Overall satisfaction was 100% from gathered feedback, with requests for longer sessions and more tools to support difficult conversations. The evaluation showed that Last Aid offers a strong foundation for reflective practice, empathy, and culturally sensitive care- helping staff feel better equipped to support people and families when it matters most. Importantly it also tells us about other things you would like to learn.
