Highland Hospice is opening a brand new £1 Clearance Shop on Friday 27 February, creating an exciting new way for the community to shop sustainably while supporting hospice care across the Highlands.
The new shop, located at the Hospice’s Warehouse on Harbour Road, will offer clothing priced at just £1 per item, but behind the price tag is a much bigger story about sustainability, reuse and reducing waste.
Every year, thousands of donated items pass through Highland Hospice shops. Clothing is carefully sorted and rotated through the charity’s standard and boutique shops, and then through its discount shops.
The new clearance shop gives these items a final opportunity to find a home, ensuring that as little as possible goes to waste. By opening the Clearance Shop, the Hospice is not only raising vital funds but also actively reducing the amount of perfectly good clothing that could otherwise end up in landfill.
Lisa Foster, Retail Manager at Highland Hospice, said:
“This new £1 Clearance Shop is about much more than affordable fashion and bric a brac. It’s about making sure every item donated to us has the very best chance of being re-loved.
Our supporters are incredibly generous, and we have a responsibility to honour that by using each donation wisely. By creating another stage in our retail journey, we’re reducing waste, embracing sustainability and ensuring we raise as much as possible to support hospice care in the Highlands.”
The new shop opens its doors at 39-41 Harbour Road on Friday, 27 February from 10am - 5pm, and customers are encouraged to come along early to explore the first rails of stock.
